Royal Oak visits 2007

This picture was taken on 17th July 2007 at 3:50pm it shows Wendy and Roger Cheesley before their visit to the HMS Royal Oak site in Scapa Flow.

Roger's father was Warrant Engineer Wilfred Henry Gwynne Cheesley who was lost onboard HMS Royal Oak.

This picture was taken on 8th June 2007 at 1:30pm it shows from left Georgina Griffin, Michael Griffin, Rosemary Pope and Clive Pope.

Clive and Georgina are the daughter and son of Petty Officer George Arthur Pope who was lost on HMS Royal Oak.

March 10th 2007 at 11 am Douglas George Harle made his way out to the spot where his uncle George Harle lost his life. George was due to leave HMS Royal Oak at 8 am on 14th October 1939 to return home to Newcastle to marry his sweetheart, unfortunately George never left Scapa Flow.

Douglas' was given the middle name of George in memory of his uncle.

January 19th 2006 at 11 am Tony Hicks returned to Scapa Flow to pay his respects to his father Albert Edward Hicks. The only difference with this visit was that he was joined by his 3 children.

Tony first visited Scapa Flow in 2001. This picture shows Nicola Inglis, Claire Hicks, Donnie Sutherland, Gary Hicks and Tony after their visit to the wreck site of HMS Royal Oak.
