This picture shows Art & Anne Addison in the Garden of Remembrance at Scapa following their visit over the wreck of HMS Royal Oak on 12th May 2008. Art's uncle was Albert Henry Matfield, he was a Marine onboard HMS Royal Oak at the time of her loss. | |
14th April 2008, this picture shows Mrs Eileen Smith and her daughter Denise beside the HMS Royal Oak buoy in Scapa Flow. Eileen, aged 90, lost her brother onboard HMS Royal Oak. Eileen's brother was 17 year old Ordinary Seaman Alexander Edward Beer. | |
The first visit of 2008 took place on 14th April. This picture shows from left to right, Susan & Frank Cutler, Donnie Sutherland of Royal British Legion Kirkwall, and Mary & Barry Ardron. Frank and Mary's father was Frank Cutler who survived the sinking in 1939. |
