Royal Oak visits 2009

On 15th September Shirley & John Britton, who travelled from Devon, paid respects to John's father Thomas Frederick Britton he lost his life on H.M.S Royal Oak.
John was 7 years old when he lost his father.
Annabelle & Alexander Alcock travelled from Australia to pay their respects to Annabelle's uncle Frank Cuthbert Carr who lost his life on H.M.S Royal Oak. They made their visit over the wrecksite on 23rd June 2009
On Tuesday 9th June 2009 at 9am the Hawkins group made their visit to the wrecksite of H.M.S Royal Oak to pay their respects to Stoker 2nd Class W. R. Murray who lost his life on 14th October 1939.
The names from left to right are Lorraine Hawkins, Alan Hawkins, Doreen Hawkins, Colin Hawkins & Trevor Hawkins, also accompanying them was friends Rosemary & Christopher. Doreen Hawkins is the sister of W. R. Murray. Alan, Colin & Trevor are the nephews of W.R. Murray.
On Tuesday 9th June 2009 at 10am, Howard & Carol Jenkins and Christopher & Sandra Harrold visited the wrecksite of H.M.S Royal Oak. Sandra & Howard are the niece and nephew of casualty Eric Jenkins.
On wednesday 10th June 2009 at 11am, Chris and Janet Curtis visited the wrecksite to pay their respects to Chris' uncle P. O. Cook Herbert Henry Warwick Curtis.
On wednesday 10th June at 11am, Ewan & Sandra MacAskill visited the wrecksite of H.M.S Royal Oak to pay their respects to Sandra's uncle Ord. Telegraphist James Barnes Maxwell Littlejohn
This picture shows Mr John Lawrence who travelled to Orkney to pay his respects to his uncle and godfather, Leading Seaman, Stanley Simpson. The visit took place on 6th June 2009.
On Tuesday 19th May at 3:30pm another family paid their respects to a lost family member. Eileen Slater (pictured in the centre) lost her father Ewart Henry Miles, he was a 39 year old Marine when H.M.S Royal Oak sunk, Eileen was accompanied by her daughters.

This picture shows Mr Donnie Sutherland, of Royal British Legion Scotland, Kirkwall Branch, with Charles and Linda Brading who travelled from the Isle of Wight to pay respects to Charles' uncle. Charles was named after his uncle Boy 1st Class Charles Edward Brading. The visit took place on Friday 13th March at 1pm.
